BePowered Life Cycle study; Beyonder sets a new standard in battery sustainability
Beyonder has taken a bold leap forward in sustainable energy storage with the release of its Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for the BePowered battery cell and module. Conducted in collaboration with EurA AG, the study confirms that Beyonder’s BePowered technology significantly outperforms traditional LFP batteries in environmental impact when measured over the battery’s lifetime.
The LCA reveals that the BePowered cell, with its ultra-high cycle life of up to 15,000 cycles, delivers a lower carbon footprint per kWh of useful energy than industry-standard LFP cells.
Hernan Javier Neuvinger Rodriguez, HSEQ & ESG Manager in Beyonder explains;
”Our Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) shows that BePowered battery cells outperforms traditional LFP battery cells in terms of useful energy delivered over its expected lifetime and across all environmental impact categories, even though it has a higher carbon footprint per kilogram and per kilowatt-hour of initial capacity”.

Even under conservative assumptions, such as using 10,000 cycles at 5C rate for comparison - despite testing already surpassing 15,000 cycles with a comfortable margin to end-of-life capacity, the BePowered cell shows a clear advantage in climate impact and across all environmental categories.
This suggests that BePowered’s competitive edge is likely to strengthen further as ongoing testing continues to validate its extended cycle life.
Competitive advantages to BePowered
The Life Cycle Assessment expects to bring extraordinary competitive advantages to BePowered compared to traditional LFP battery cells.
“The BePowered cells shows that longer life = lower impact. With targeted improvements, it has the potential to set new standards in sustainable battery technology,” says Rodriguez.
Key innovations driving this performance include:
Use of hard carbon anodes from biobased sources like coconut shells
A shift toward European production powered by renewable energy
Transparent, traceable supply chains and integration of recycled materials
Carbon emissions - BePowered.
Carbon emissions reduction path - BePowered
“With this milestone, Beyonder not only meets the upcoming EU Battery Regulation requirements but sets a new benchmark for responsible battery innovation. When measured per kWh of delivered energy over its lifetime, the EU Battery Regulation’s functional unit, it shows lower impacts across all 16 categories, thanks to its exceptional cycle life (up to 15,000 cycles)”, Rodriguez concludes.
